PGPD Suspends Officer Arrested in Off-Duty Domestic-Related Assault

A Prince George’s County Police officer will be suspended without pay following a domestic violence-related arrest in Anne Arundel County. Corporal Steven Davis was off-duty at the time of the incident.

Davis was arrested on Tuesday night at his home in Laurel. He is charged with first and second degree assault, reckless endangerment and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

“The charges placed against this officer are deeply disturbing to me. When I was made aware of this arrest, the officer’s police powers were immediately suspended.  It saddens me to bring this news to my community, but rest assured, the actions of one do not represent the actions of the almost 1700 Prince George’s County police officers who serve and protect us every single day.  To the victims of domestic violence, I urge you to speak out.  We will listen, we will act, and those responsible will be brought to justice,” said Chief Hank Stawinski.

Any questions regarding the arrest should be directed to the Anne Arundel County Police Department. Our Internal Affairs Division has already launched an administrative investigation in to this matter.  

Davis has been with the department for seven years and is assigned to the Bureau of Patrol.

PGPD Suspende a Oficial Arrestado por Violencia Doméstica Fuera de Horas Laborables

Un oficial de la Policía del Condado de Prince George será suspendido sin paga luego de su arresto en relación a su arresto en un incidente de violencia doméstica en el Condado de Anne Arundel. El oficial Steven Davis se encontraba fuera de turno en el momento del incidente.

Davis fue arrestado en su hogar en Laurel el martes en la noche. A éste se le acusa de agresión en primer y segundo grado, imprudencia temeraria y el uso de un arma de fuego en la comisión de un delito.

“Los cargos que pesan contra éste oficial son sumamente perturbadores para mí. Al enterarme del arresto, los poderes policiales de éste oficial fueron suspendidos inmediatamente. Me apena brindar ésta noticia a la comunidad, pero pueden estar seguros de que las acciones de uno no representan aquellas de los casi 1700 oficiales de la Policía del Condado de Prince George que nos protegen a diario. A las víctimas de violencia doméstica, les urjo que reporten a sus agresores. Les escucharemos, tomaremos acción y los responsables serán traídos a la justicia,” dijo el Jefe de la Policía, Hank Stawinski.
