PGPD Makes Two Arrests in Connection with Multiple Package Thefts in Fort Washington and Accokeek

A detective assigned to investigate a string of recent package thefts located a car linked to all of the crimes which lead to the arrest of two suspects. The suspects are identified as 22-year-old Breanna Stewart of the 6000 block of Heatherwood Drive in Alexandria and 23-year-old Edita Hynson of the 1100 block of Kennebec Street in Oxon Hill. They are linked to at least five package thefts in Fort Washington and Accokeek on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. We believe there are likely additional victims. Specific items were recovered inside of the suspects’ car   We are now attempting to identify the owners of those items.

On November 6^th, at approximately 5:15 pm, a resident called 911 to report a package had been stolen from their outside of their home.  One of our detectives who was already investigating a string of these cases responded to the area and was able to locate the suspects’ car on Mattawoman Way in Accokeek. The detective called for additional officers to respond and a traffic stop was conducted. The suspects were driving a gray 2019 Scion with Virginia tags VLK9815.

Detectives are looking into whether the women committed additional package thefts. We would like to hear from anyone who may have had a package stolen in the Fort Washington and Accokeek areas this week and did not report those crimes to police.

Stewart and Hynson are charged with multiple counts of theft.

A court commissioner released both suspects on personal recognizance.

PGPD Hace Dos Arrestos en Conexión a Múltiples Robos de Paquetes en Fort Washington y Accokeek

Un detective quien tenía asignado investigar una serie de robos de paquetes logró localizar un vehículo conectado con todos los crímenes, lo que llevó al arresto de dos sospechosas. Éstas fueron identificadas como Breanna Stewart, de 22 años de edad y vecina de la cuadra 6000 de Heatherwood Drive en Alexandria, y Edita Hyson, de 23 años de edad y vecina de la cuadra 1100 de Kennebec Street en Oxon Hill. Éstas están conectadas con al menos 5 robos de paquetes en Fort Washington y Accokeek ocurridos durante el martes y miércoles de esta semana. Entendemos que en toda probabilidad hay víctimas adicionales. Se recuperaron objetos específicos de adentro del vehículo de las sospechosas. En estos momentos estamos tratando de identificar a los dueños de dichos objetos.

El 6 de noviembre, a eso de las 5:15 pm, un residente llamó al 911 para reportar un paquete que le habían robado de las afueras de su residencia. Uno de nuestros detectives quien ya se encontraba investigando una serie de estos casos se dirigió al área y pudo localizar el vehículo de las sospechosas en Mattawoman Way, en el área de Accokeek. El detective pidió refuerzos y varios oficiales detuvieron al vehículo. Las sospechosas manejaban un Scion del 2019, color gris, que llevaba tablillas del Estado de Virginia con la siguiente secuencia: VLK9815.

Nuestros detectives investigan si éstas llevaron a cabo más robos de paquetes. Quisiéramos saber de cualquier persona a quien le hayan robado algún paquete por las áreas de Fort Washington y Accokeek durante ésta semana y no lo reportaron a la policía.
