The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that took place in Suitland in late October. The victim is 66-year-old Franklin Timmons of no fixed address. He died of his injuries on November 11th.
On October 31st, at approximately 11:20 pm, patrol officers were called to the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road for a collision involving a pedestrian. The officers located the victim in the roadway. Timmons sustained critical injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
The victim was struck as he attempted to cross Silver Hill Road. The preliminary investigation reveals he was not in a crosswalk at the time. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on the scene and did not suffer any injuries.
